It’s fall and with bikini season in the rear view, we think now is a great time to do a little culinary indulging. Oklahoma City has no shortage of great options – including some new or soon-to-be-introduced options. Here are some great alternatives to put on your list.
Chef Andrew Black has three new offerings under construction in the Deep Deuce area – located just north of Bricktown. Slated to open this fall are La Baguette Express, a more casual café offering; Black Walnut featuring American favourites and super-sized cocktails; and Grey Sweater Restaurant and Lounge. At Grey Sweater experience the three-tier tasting menu featuring flavours from around the world. Three great new offerings in a neighbourhood worth checking out.
Moving to the Plaza District – a diverse area filled with galleries, retail shops, creative firms and performance venues – is Goro Ramen. This Japanese restaurant headed by Jeff Chanchaleune specializes in “splurpy soup”. With four varieties of ramen, including gluten-free and vegan options, Goro Ramen is a locals favourite. What started as a food truck (Kaiteki Ramen) in 2014, went brick and mortar in 2016 and has never looked back. In addition to their signature ramen, we suggest the Japanese steam buns…delicious.
The Jones Assembly has been open for just over a year and has been quickly and lovingly embraced by Oklahoma City. In a recent Oklahoma Gazette, 2018 Best of OKC Poll, The Jones Assembly acquired nine category wins, including Best Chef, Andrew Eskridge. Located in downtown’s historic Film Row, the Assembly prides itself on serving refined regional cuisine. For dinner, you’ll find mains including Nashville Hot Chicken and Short Rib with wood-fired purple cabbage. Live music is also on the menu as TJA also showcases a mix of national recording artists and their weekly house music.
The Best Western Saddleback provides convenient access to Oklahoma’s culinary hotspots. Use the complimentary wi-fi to post pictures of your foodie-finds or enjoy the state of the art equipment in the exercise facility to burn a few calories so you can sample the local offerings guilt free.
